Part–Time Tutor in Academic Skills and English

The Pacific Theological College (PTC) is looking for a local person in Suva or Fiji for a part-time Tutor in Academic Skills and English. The position will be based on a potentially renewable one (1)-year contract starting February 2024. PTC is an ecumenical institution serving the region of the Pacific. PTC is a short drive to Suva’s CBD, shopping centers, cinemas and churches.

Tasks
Teaching and Supervision

a) Uphold the Constitution of the Pacific Theological College; and
b) Diligently and faithfully perform the duties of a Tutor for English Language Support (part-time) which includes teaching courses and related individual student support work, proofreading of student theses, and any other appropriate duties during the period of service as required by the Principal and/or the Executive.
c) Assist with any University transition task required by the Principal or the leadership of the College.
d) Attend to any work and responsibility required by the Principal and/or Acting Principal.

Qualifications and experience
Required

a) A suitable Master’s degree or a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline (such as Academic/Research skills or English)
b) Teach and supervise in English.
c) At least two years of teaching experience at tertiary level.

a) The persons appointed are expected to be sympathetic to the aspirations of the island nations of the Pacific region, open to diversity and value of their cultures and ways of knowing, and willing to serve in an ecumenical community. These are required of any applicant.
