Participants or Toloas of the Certificate in Philosophical Competency set sail into the waters of the Pasifika ‘Whole of Life’ Philosophies for a New Development Consciousness this week. These toloa are University lecturers, PhD and Masters students, and policy makers from all over the world such as Fiji, PNG Solomon Islands, UK, India, Canada, Germany, Samoa, Australia, NZ, and Avaikinui Cook islands. Following their Welcome Dinner on Saturday, they probed the waters of the present, looking at the current development narrative with the Institute for Mission and Research Director, Aisake Casimira. On Monday, the Course Coordinator, PTC Principal Rev. Professor Upolu Vaai, made the case for Pasifika Philosophies and ‘Unlocking the Pasifika Philosophical Mind. Today, the Toloa journeyed back into the grounding philosophies of Pasifika with Professor Manulani Meyer and the Relational Philosophies of Land, Ocean, Waters and the Vanua with Professor Patrick Vakaoti.
