The Pacific Theological College hosted visits from both Brot fur die Welt (Bread for the World) and One Mission World of Mission Einewelt both of Germany.
Both organisations are key funding partners of PTC.
One Mission World’s Reverend Arnim Doerfer and Reverend Thomas Paulsteiner accompanies by their spouses visited PTC early in February where they joined morning worship with PTC staff and students at the chapel where they were welcomed.
They were further welcomed with a morning tea where PTC Principal Reverend Professor Upolu Va’ai applauded the support of One Mission World in the implementation of the work of the College.
‘One Mission World is a great partner supporting the work of ecumenical theological education here at PTC and the region, sponsoring students with scholarships to study theology at PTC and internationally,’ said Rev. Dr. Va’ai.
Reverend Arnim told the PTC community that he considered himself a ‘white Melanesian’, as he was born and bred in Papua New Guinea and so he felt at home among his people.
‘PTC has played a critical role in producing church leaders and theologians that had influence in shaping the region,’ said Rev. Arnim.
President of Bread for the World Rev. Dr. Cornelia Fullkrug-Weitzel visited with the Principal and team from the Institute for Mission and Research that is based at the PTC.
Bread for the World is IMR’s main funder enabling the conduct of capacity building courses like Leadership Management, Social Analysis, Peacebuilding, Gender Voices for Dignity, Personal Exchange, Skills and English and the delivery of the Reweaving the Ecologial Mat Project.
Rev. Dr. Fullkrug-Weitzel was happy Bread for the World is sponsoring activities that have real impact in the lives of Christians across the Pacific Islands region.
She also visited various other Fijian agencies and non-government organisations supported by Bread for the World.
